James Horton

Crew

Sailing is in James’ blood. James has been crewing boats from as early as 10 years old and it was this early exposure to sailing that led him to joining the Sea Cadets. It was during that time James was given the opportunity to sail and race a variety of different boats and was his path to becoming an RYA instructor for sailing, powerboating and kayaking.  These qualifications were used to full effect whilst he “worked” in the south of France for several seasons. Life then took James in a different direction, and he transferred his competitive and focused nature to cycling. James, is now a keen cyclist and has been lucky to transfer his hobby to his work, with over 10 years of experience working in the cycling industry. Through his work and cycling experience, James has come to support the Steve Bernard Foundation in all their 2-wheel orientated fundraising events. Cycling has, in turn, brought James back to sailing after he and Josh had a chance meeting out on a bike ride. Josh set the scene for Wildgybe and James was hooked. The rest of the story is yet to be told…

Josh O'Brien

Crew

When it comes to sailing, Josh was a little late to the party, at least by racing standards. Only learning to sail at 13, which is 10 years later than Sam!
Soon after learning to sail Josh got into racing which took him around the UK competing at national level. Since leaving sixth form he went onto live in Weymouth where he learnt how to repair, build and modify high performance sailing yachts and dinghies. During this period he raced a number of boats, from International 14's, the Vampire, F18's to mention but a few. He became double UK national champion and won the Belgium National Championships in 2015 both in the F18 Catamaran.
